Overview

Task-related positive and negative affect

This scale measures how much a specific task made participants feel positive versus negative affect. It is designed to capture task-specific, state-like affective reactions rather than general affectivity.

Construct
Positive and negative affect triggered by a specific completed task
Target Population
Individuals completing concrete tasks, especially in repeated-measures contexts. In this article, the immediate target was students completing academic tasks.
Response Format
1 = very slightly or not at all to 5 = extremely

Structure

Subscales

Görevle ilişkili pozitif duygulanım/Task-related positive affect

5 items

Positive feelings elicited by the task, such as excitement

Görevle ilişkili negatif duygulanım/Task-related negative affect

5 items

Negative feelings elicited by the task, such as feeling upset

Statistics

Reliability

Reliability was acceptable to good. Reported omega coefficients ranged from .77 to .85 across the two studies. In the pilot study, within-person ω was .78 for positive affect and .85 for negative affect. In the main study, ω was .77 for positive affect and .81 for negative affect.

Evidence

Validity Notes

Two-factor MCFA showed acceptable fit after correlating two residual pairs. Factor loadings were moderate to strong at the within- and between-person levels. Main-study CFA also modeled positive and negative affect as separate factors.
